Competition Rules

THE SALOPIAN POETRY SOCIETY'S OPEN POETRY COMPETITION 2017.
Conditions of entry:-
The 41st annual competition is open to every one. Entries must be in English & your own original work. Entries must not be entered into any other competition, nor have been a prize winner in any other competition.

Poems, ( maximum 80 lines), should be typed but, if hand-written, printed. Each poem should be entered on a separate sheet of A4 paper, bearing only the title of the poem. Author's name, address or any other form of identification must NOT be included on the poem or poems but should be written on the entry form or a separate sheet of paper, together with the title/s of the poem/s and the name and address of the poet, and attached to the entries.

*PLEASE SUBMIT TWO COPIES OF EACH POEM.*

PLEASE ENSURE THAT SUFFICIENT POSTAGE IS PAID.
Entry fee is £3 per poem or four for £10 for non members and £2 per poem for Society members. All cheques or postal orders must be made payable to 'Salopian Poetry Society' and not to the adjudicator or competition organiser. No manuscripts can be returned. Please keep a copy of poems entered.

FIRST PRIZE £150 – Second prize £100 – Third prize £50.
Ten consolation prizes of £20 will be awarded and all winners will receive a copy of the Winter 2016 issue of Salopeot which will contain all the winning poems. To celebrate our 40th anniversary, additional prizes will be awarded for poems chosen by the Magazine Editor. No limit to number of entries.
Entries unaccompanied by an entry form will be accepted provided that the rules are followed.

Adjudicator :- Allison Chisholm

A free list of winners will be sent as soon as possible if a S.A.E. is enclosed for this purpose. All winning poems will be published in the Winter 2017 edition of ‘Salopeot’, copies of which can be obtained @£5.00 ( including postage) from the Society 5,Squires Close, Madeley,Telford, Shropshire TF7-5RU.
CLOSING DATE 30th September 2017.

Copyright of all poems remains that of the Author, but the Society shall have the right to publish all winning poems in the Winter issue of ‘Salopeot’ on their website.
